
The Academy of Hope is working with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina (PCSASC) to hold a 2026 special election to fill two vacant seats. This partnership ensures election integrity and confidentiality.
The AOH governing board is composed of seven (7) elected members. This special election will fill two (2) vacant seats: one with a term ending in 2027 and one with a term ending in 2028. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes will be appointed to the seat with the longer term.
This is a public notification of a call for board candidates nominations. Each prospective board member must complete an online filing/nomination form. Please review the information below so that you can make an informed decision about committing to board service before you submit your nomination form.
Special Election Timeline:
- January 22, 2026: The school will distribute a call for board candidates to the public. Each prospective board member must complete an online filing/nomination form.
- February 6, 2026: The filing period ends. Acceptance of candidate filings will be closed at 12:00 pm (Noon).
- February 9, 2026: Candidate profiles will be sent to the school to share with stakeholders.
- February 11-12, 2026: Voting open with e-ballot links emailed to each parent/guardian and employee. Voting will open on February 11 at 8:00 am and close on February 12 at 4:00 pm. There is one vote per child enrolled in the school and one vote per employee. Each ballot will have a unique PIN to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the process.
- February 13, 2026: Election results will be certified and announced publicly.
- February 17, 2026: Newly elected and appointed board members will take office and be formally sworn in during this scheduled board meeting. This will complete the election process.
New Board Member Requirements:
- Meeting and Training Requirements: School Board Members are required to attend all board meetings.
- Mandated Board Training: Per state law, board members are required to attend board training within 1 year of being elected. The South Carolina Department of Education will offer free training.
