AOH Policy Alignment with Horry County School District Policies
The Academy of Hope follows Horry County School District policies when applicable, but operates independently under its own governing board, so not all district policies apply.
- The Academy of Hope uses Horry County School District (HCSD) policies as a guide when those policies make sense and are allowed for a charter school.
- Not every HCSD policy applies to the Academy of Hope, because charter schools operate differently than traditional public schools.
- The Academy of Hope is independent — it is governed by its own Board of Directors, not by the Horry County School Board.
- Even though the school is in Horry County and aligns with some district practices, final authority rests with the charter school’s governing board, not the district.
