The Academy of Hope Board of Directors announces the retirement of Dr. Melissa McCloud, who has served proudly as Principal of The Academy of Hope for the past twelve years.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. McCloud for her dedicated leadership and years of service to our students, families, and staff. Her commitment to individualized education and student success has left a lasting impact on The Academy of Hope community.

The Academy of Hope Welcomes Dr. Eugene Bellamy, Jr. as Interim Executive Director/Principal
The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Eugene Bellamy as Interim Executive Director/Principal, effective December 20, 2025.
Dr. Bellamy is a graduate of Horry County Schools and brings a wealth of educational leadership experience to The Academy of Hope. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Coastal Carolina University, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Florida A&M University, and a Doctor of Education in General Education with Distinction from National University. He is a certified mathematics teacher and has served as a lead evaluator and field supervisor for entry-level teachers.
Dr. Bellamy has extensive experience managing state and federal education programs, including Title I, Title II, and Title III, budget and resource management, and the development of digital learning communities to support mathematics and other academic disciplines. His career includes roles as a mathematics teacher, assistant principal, middle school principal, and school turnaround leader.
Dr. Bellamy firmly believes that with strong academic programs, effective guidance, and a focus on individual learner needs, all students can achieve high standards.
